Why use a Sulphate Free Shampoo?
Sulphates (also known as SLS – sodium laurel sulphate or SLES – sodium laureth sulphate) are basically what turns your shampoo into a thick, bubbly lather. It is a standard ingredient in most cheaply made shampoos, and in most household cleaning products like dishwashing liquid. Sulphates are known to cause frizziness and reduce colour retention significantly.
The good news? qaba™ shampoos are 100% sulphate free!
Here are some tips to help you get the best out of your sulphate free qaba™ shampoo.
Thoroughly wet your hair before applying qaba™ sulphate-free shampoo. If your hair isn’t wet completely, it’s hard to distribute the shampoo through your hair.
Massage the shampoo through your hair and scalp. You may not get a bubbly lather like you would normally expect, so give your hair and scalp a good massage to spread the shampoo throughout.
If you don’t get a good lather, apply more water, instead of more product. The water will help activate the shampoo and spread it through your hair.
Shampoo twice. Shampooing a second time will help lift any remaining dirt and oil. Plus the second shampoo will lather up more easily.
Rinse your hair thoroughly. Make sure to really rinse your hair. Any residue may cause your hair to feel heavy.
Follow up with your favourite qaba™ conditioner or hair masque. Remember, you only need to condition your hair from the mid-lengths to the ends (or what would fall out the bottom of a pony tail). Your scalp produces enough natural oils, so you do not need to condition your scalp. Comb your conditioner through from mid lengths to ends and rinse well.
